MKAP (Marketplace Kings & Priests Global Network) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain language, and we apply the same standard of care to everyone, wherever you live.
1. Who we are
MKAP is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us about privacy through the Contact page on this website by choosing "Privacy" as the topic.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to our website, our newsletter, our online symposiums, the Take the Helm Summit, and any form you complete on our site. It does not cover third-party services we link to, such as YouTube, Facebook, and Eventbrite, which have their own privacy policies.
3. Information we collect
Information you give us
Newsletter: your first name, email address, and country.
Contact form: your name, email address, country, and message.
Speaker proposals: your name, email, country, role, organization, proposed topic, and LinkedIn profile.
Volunteer sign-ups: your name, email, phone number, preferred role, and availability.
Sponsorship enquiries: your name, organization, email, phone number, and message.
Summit tickets and childcare bookings: when you register through Eventbrite, Eventbrite shares your name, email address, and booking details with us, including any childcare booking information you provide. Payments are processed by Eventbrite; we never receive your card details.
Information collected automatically
Technical information such as your IP address and browser type may be processed to serve the website and protect forms from abuse. We do not currently use website analytics cookies.
Photos and video at events
We may photograph or record parts of the Take the Helm Summit and share selected images or clips on our website, YouTube, and social media. If you prefer not to be photographed, tell our team on the day and we will respect that.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to:
send you our newsletter and symposium reminders, if you have asked for them
reply to your messages and requests
process summit registrations and provide childcare
coordinate speakers, volunteers, and sponsors
understand how our website is used so we can improve it
keep our website and events safe and secure
meet our legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for any purpose you would not reasonably expect without asking you first.
5. Our legal reasons for using your information
If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, or another place with similar laws, we rely on these legal bases:
Consent: for our newsletter, analytics cookies, and event photography of you specifically. You can withdraw consent at any time.
To carry out your request or agreement with us: for summit tickets, childcare, and replying to your enquiries.
Legitimate interests: for running and improving our website and events, where this does not override your rights.
Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or share information.
6. Emails from us
We only send newsletters and event emails to people who have agreed to receive them. Every email identifies MKAP and includes a link to unsubscribe, which takes effect promptly. Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not affect messages about a summit ticket you have bought.
7. Who we share information with
We share personal information only as needed with trusted service providers who help us run MKAP, and only under agreements that require them to protect it. These may include our email newsletter provider, email delivery provider, website hosting provider, and Eventbrite for event tickets and bookings. YouTube session links open on YouTube, which has its own privacy policy.
We do not share attendee or subscriber lists with sponsors or partners without your consent. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of any person.
8. International transfers
MKAP is based in Canada, and some of our service providers store data in other countries, including the United States. Where your information is transferred outside your country, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives a comparable level of protection, including contractual safeguards where available.
9. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it:
Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe
Enquiries, speaker proposals, and volunteer details: two years after our last contact
Summit registrations: three years, for records and planning
Childcare information: deleted within 30 days after the event, unless we need it for an incident record
Website analytics: 14 months
After these periods, we securely delete or anonymize the information.
10. How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including limiting access to people who need it and using secure, reputable service providers. No system is completely secure, but if a breach occurs that puts you at real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the relevant regulator where the law requires.
11. Cookies
This website does not currently set analytics cookies or embed third-party videos. Links to YouTube, Facebook, Eventbrite, and maps open those services separately, where their own cookie and privacy policies apply.
If we introduce optional analytics or embedded services, we will update this policy and provide consent controls where required. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy
correct information that is wrong or incomplete
withdraw your consent at any time
ask us to delete your information
object to or restrict certain uses of your information
receive your information in a portable format
To make a request, contact us through the Contact page and choose "Privacy" as the topic. We will respond within 30 days, and we may need to confirm your identity first. There is no charge.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact a privacy regulator: in Alberta, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta; elsewhere in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; in the EU, your national data protection authority; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
13. Children
Our website and online programs are intended for adults and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, except the childcare booking details that parents and guardians give us for the summit. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Links to other websites
Our website links to other sites, such as YouTube, Facebook, Eventbrite, and our partners. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please review their policies.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date, and for significant changes we will notify newsletter subscribers.
